My understanding of the song is based on the ten biblical plagues, and change that must come. You can see the cloud of locusts approaching and know that the entire crop is in danger. Rabbit is a symbol of rebirth. I therefore interpret the song as a warning of danger, but also that out of change something new will be born. |

| It struck me when I listened to this again a few months ago that the song might be about abortion and a father that has nothing to say about the decision. At that time, abortion had been legal for 12 years in Norway, and for many men it must have been a difficult situation, and probably still is today. In my opinion he sings partly to his unborn child, partly to himself (keep going) and to the child's mother ("Oh baby don't 'Cause I've been told" - at least you shouldn't have told me), who in cold blood chooses to end the pregnancy. Even as an old man, he will feel the cold sometime in the future. Where joy should reign there is nothing but cold and sorrow of an unborn life. By ending the pregnancy she kills his love for her (Winter's gone I'm on my own). The video shows how his friends will help him through the pain by being there by his side, "on the road" of life. | |

@[Han_Solo:43916] Actually it was Magne who had a girlfriend back in Norway. I immediately got the thought that this is Magnes lyrics, and he is credited for the song, too. I don't know, but maybe he wrote the lyrics? |
