Every time I hear this song I get chills. Just the very question, "Who Do You Love" is enough to stop me in my tracks, and question my priorities in life. In the Hard Rock Cafe in Manhattan, I was out with friends celebrating my High School Graduation. There, right next to our table, was a statue of the Buddha, surrounded by a Cross, some money, an office building, pictures of people. In the center, in what I remember to be letters 100 stories high but probably no more than 2 feet tall were the words, "Who Do You Love". When I hear this song, especially the version which has Bo Diddley repeating the questions so many times so early in the song, I am transported back to the moment I saw it, being struck by the question, getting the reference, and recognizing the significance that the answer would hold for the rest of my life. |
