I think the beauty of this lyric is that the nature of the deal is undefined. Bruce leaves it to the listener to imagine what that might be. Pure genius.

Old thread but Michael is correct - this is a side project from Justin Hayward and John Lodge of the Moody Blues. I was fortunate enough to be in Carnegie Hall on March 10th, 1975 for the world debut of this album. It was a special experience that I'll never forget. Been in love with it ever since. And especially this song from Side 2. Spinning the vinyl right now, in fact. That's what got me here. I would also agree with Michael's interpretation. I always thought of it as a love song, but after all, God loves us too.
