| The rift, the sound, belong in rock pantheon. Doubly incredible is that a British group sounds so CCR, and ups the ante! Did it make it in the Rolling Stone Top 100 ... that list that has (had?) 'Satisfaction' at number one? To me, Long Cool Woman is better. What song plays better in the open air, or when you meet a real long cool woman? | |

@[KinksRock:44021] It seems that Moonraker is the name of her dream lover. There's various definitions online. One is villagers hiding treasure in the lake. When they retrieve it (to pay taxes?) they do it by moonlight and their reflection in the water is moonraking. In the novel I always assumed Drax's missile was simply Moonraker..high enough to touch the moon. But in the end I'm sure that Fleming liked the sound more than its technical meaning. It really grows on me. I like David Arnold's cover with a very good singer.. it's closer to the traditional Bond sound. If horns, bass guitar were added I would think it would be a hit. Maybe Goldfinger bass drum heartbeat. |
