I'd clarify that it seems like the first verse is about depression he already had to begin with, then the second verse is about the girl who he thought would save him from it, but she didn't quite meet his expectations because the problem lies within himself, and no one else can solve it for him. The theme of suicide throughout the song, anytime the "dark angel" is mentioned, ties it all together as the dual-natured solution to his problem. It will free him from depression, but he will also lose his life, so he can't decide whether it's good or bad. | |
