USAF B-29s fire-bombed Japan mercilessly even after few real targets existed. That is the nature of war, especially fratricidal civil wars like the wars in Ireland (I don't consider the Welsh or Irish or Scots to be more than a slightly unique tribe of the greater English islands.) The genius of the moderate forces on both sides of the English and Irish conflict was their ability to find peace, eventually. |
