Survivors of atomic bombs used to describle atomic bomb as 'pika-don', which can be translated as 'thunder-boom' in English. they called like it beause sound of bomb dropping sounded like that and it was most impressive thing for them. And if you hear melody in 3:00, it kinda sounds like that, also MV show us lightning hitting for city and explosion of merry-go-round as well with image of mushroom cloud, conincidence? Also talking about 'Red wine that punctures the skin' and 'Face to face in a dry and waterless place' It is what make me confused most and there might be people like me, so I leave it here. At first, talking about 'Face to…' verse. When bomb is just dropped, the area became extremely dry because of heat of the bomb. so you could hear people keep screaming 'give me a water' in there. And the when 'black rain' has fallen, which contains radioactivity so that its color became dark, most of people were opening their mouth toward to the sky and tried to drink it. the verses are probably talking about it. Ofc, it wasn't healthy and people drank that rain died earlier than those who didn't And talking about 'Red wine…' , I'm still not perfectly aware for this. What one of meaning may be that it describes victim's apperance. Victims of bomb had a puncture-ish spot that spouts blood, or it may be describing Japanese people using cooking oils as a alternative painkiller to the burn, you know some of cooking oils have red color and also you know it isn't true medicine to skin that has burn. It might look like cooking oil punctures the skin in Bono's eyes. |
