Full of biblical and apocalyptic imagery…read the Bible and appreciate Dylan more:-)

Since someone touched on this briefly, here is my take:
Well, it's bright in the heavens and the wheels are flyin'; Elijah’s vision of God’s throne and the 4 creatures on wheels that fly to and fro; several other visions other places in the scripture depict this type of idea of brightness surrounding Hod in the heavens from Moses writings all the way through to Revelation
Fame and honor never seem to fade—eternal attributes of God mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible
The fire gone out but the light is never dyin'; the fire in God’s temple from the altar and the candlestick are out because the earthly temple is destroyed, but God’s light will never die; and idea represented dozens of times in the Bible
Who says I can't get heavenly aid? He knows he can still call on God for help

@[uzenzo:43513] Dylan often writes stream of consciousness style…his thoughts may have started on God, or those scriptures were rolling around in his head, but he eventually gets to a lady he calls “gal” and he writes:’

They're braggin' about your sugar
Brag about it all over town
Put some sugar in my bowl
I feel like laying down

What I see in a lot of his songs is stream of consciousness addressing God and/or a paradigm reflecting belief in the God revealed in the Bible—AND—also his relationship with people within the same song. It makes perfect sense to me as when you walk with God this is literally the day in and out experience in your head: you believe God’s version of reality, commune with him, and those precepts guide your relationships with others.

It’s full of Judeo Christian apolcalyptic imagery from the old and New Testament. It’s also full of ideas from Jesus and the epistles of the New Testament. I quickly counted a minimum of 25 references.
