@[Sage_Ghost:43717] I may be late with this comment, but "Waco Jesus" was one of the first songs Serj Tankian wrote, before even forming SOAD. So yes, I think "Empty Walls" draws inspiration from this incident and expands to criticize religious dogmatism. |

@[ReapeaterX21:43369] I also think the song is about Soad too, but I see it as a metaphor for Tankian's / Malakian's toxic relationship at the time. In 2018 Malakian revealed that Tankian wanted to leave the band before their last 2 albums and Tankian confirmed that, citing artistic, creative and financial differences with Malakian as the main reasons for the 2006 hiatus.
So, "incest" here means a close bond that was broken by exploitative/controlling behaviours. Brother/sister could be any of them, it is not clear who "the bad guy" is and it depends on how this dynamic was formed. |
