The Dandy Warhols – Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth Lyrics 3 years ago
First time I heard this, I thought it was one I missed from the hidden musical gems of the 1960’s or 1970’s, because it’s reminiscent of sounds which were around at the time. However, just like their ‘Bohemian Like You’, Dandy Warhols have produced another wonderful hit. Now, this isn’t just coming from a child of the 60’s who evolved to be a lover of the classics, but from a lover of music who understands that with everything else, music, musicians and music styles change. As long as the DW’s continue to make these kind of sounds, their future success and fame is guaranteed. As for the lyrics? Sad. Tells a story of someone in a deep depression who believes looking cool by any means will snap them out of it. Well, anyone of us who’s been there knows nothing could be further from the truth! There’s a universe of difference between professional treatment and self-prescribed coping methods. A good number with a subtle message, which I hope today’s generations and beyond will learn to understand.

The Rolling Stones – Sittin On A Fence Lyrics 3 years ago
I first heard this in 1970, when I was 15 and the lyrics hit me right between the emotions. Is this what life had in store for me? Poor job choice, Marriage, Old age, Misery and Death? Or was it was veiled warning to today’s teens to sort their lives out while they’re young or life would sort them out mercilessly. 62 years on and yes! I did make some of those mistakes. But now, as a pensioner, my determination to make sure I had a retirement of relative comfort and security has come to fruition. The alternative is something I’m very conscious of.
