I adore this song. When my family and I were renovating an 150 year old house before moving into it, I used to go over in the evenings and paint, and listen to this song over and over. The house we were redoing started its life as a hotel, and I imagined all the kids and teenagers who must've passed through the house in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and how their daydreams and reveries must have been similar to these lyrics. |

@[Noamchomsky:54160] I live in the Northeastern US where this song references and it's still pretty oblique and specific to what he's thinking. The only ones to really know are Brown (very exclusive, selective university in Rhode Island) and Cape May (seaside resort town in New Jersey). Everything else is pretty cryptic. |

Before I knew the Zodiac meaning of Scorpio rising I felt this song was about a lying politician.
A person with a Scorpio rising sign is mysterious and quiet, but has an underlying allure that's difficult to pin down. The song may very well be about a person Natalie interprets as such. The last two lines of the chorus in particular - "cool white stare" and "treat me to an honest face sometime" - hint at that. |
