I looked this song up on Wikipedia, and they say that it is implied that Lefty ratted Pancho out. I agree, just because of the lines about Lefty getting money from an unknown source, along with him doing "what he had to do" and needing prayers.
If the Federales "coulda gotten him any day"...either they had some incentive, or that was just them being arrogant. I dunno, but it's a beautiful song. |

I know this guy's comment was posted a long time ago, but I'd like to comment on Bite me's comment. While there are songs that are about nothing...they lack the feel and soul that this song has. I think it's gotta be about something...whether it's drugs or virginity or whatever. |

Some of these guys are right. I think maybe, maybe loss of teenage years is right.
However, you seem to be missing a major part. What about the woman? Maybe it's a guy who is starting to realize the greatness he had with this chick. At the time he had no idea how great it was, but now he's looking back and really wishing he could have her back. I don't know, that's my take. |

I can't relate to this song whatsoever. I've been blessed with friends that care, and a good family and home.
But that doesn't hurt my ability to enjoy this song. I hear it and it means escape. Nothing else. It doesn't matter about happiness, unhappiness, none of that. It's just someone trying to get out of their personal hell, and (unfortunately) failing. You know she's gonna be that check-out girl all her life and there's not a damn thing she or anyone else can do about it. She'd like to escape, but she can't. |

I know I'm probably wrong, so there's no reason to make fun, but I interpret the song differently.
You know how sometimes you want something really bad, but you can't have it? So you say something like,"Fucking..."whatever it is you want. I feel like that's what the guy means. I have a girl who's moving away, and I feel this way about her. I want to talk and hang around a lot, but I can't, so I think "Stupid Girl." That's how I interpret. |

I agree about the suicide, but you think, maybe, he's thinking of committing suicide? I mean, this is a pretty depressing song. However, shanno1183's idea is probably right too. I think either they're right, or the singer's gonna commit suicide. |
