Here's a wild interpretation.
God is talking to Jesus (the lord that comes from among us) and is trying to convince him that he is indeed who God says he is.
Get inside their minds, before they get to yours I think means that Jesus needs to preach his messages of love and his path to others before other people fill him with doubt. |
