@[bear_hug20:43360] I agree its also sexist as is Calif Girls and most of the songs from their first album ( except Surfin Safari and Surfin USA) which discriminate the senior members of society and those of other ethinicities and cultures, one of the songs entitled 'the shift( and this is my view) might as well be referring to a lady of the night from the interpretation of the lyrics. |

I have heard the parody version of this song by Apologetix, their version is based on 1 KIngs 11 its less upsetting, and not at all sexist in any way ( unlike the beach Boys version) because it has a message ( whereas the beach Boys' clearly does not). |

This song objectifies women in every way possible, I find the lyrics sexist and upsetting, the Beach Boys are a band who seem to care very little about how women feel about being portrayed this way. It may have been ok to sing something like this in the 60s but today this song should be taken off their setlist along with a few others (Kokomo being one of them). However there is very little hope of them doing that! |
