@[NadirSheller:45172] I think you may have overinterpreted this. The song is definitely about a weed addiction. Tea was a common phrase for weed back in the 60/70's. It's about addiction because of "I like 6 cups not 1 or 2/ I don't care that she left me as long as the cupboard is full of tea" The man has been broken up with and he is numbing the pain by getting high all the time. "The poor old buddhas turned into stone, that's why I drink tea alone" Weed can make you very sedentary and socially awkward. Buddha is also another term for weed and getting stoned... the buddha has turned into stone... pretty self-explanatory. "The buddhas made of stone and his eyes are rubies"... red eyes from smoking weed. I think he is also saying buddha here because often people who get high think they are pretty spiritual or that they see beyond what sober people see. So it might be that he is kind of self-deprecating here. But I'm not so sure about that one, it makes sense to me, but might be a bit of a stretch. But yeah, it's very clearly about weed addiction. |
