| Amanda Palmer – Runs in the Family Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| While I do understand the interpretation of it being against doctors who just diagnose or people who blame their problems on predisposition, I think it’s actually the narrator saying “all my friends are wrong but have a reason. I don’t do what’s wrong with me?” | |
| Måneskin – I Wanna Be Your Slave Lyrics | 2 years ago |
| Arguably, “I could be your David” is a pun. | |

RIGHT!??? I thought it was evelator for a while - like a mispronunciation of elevator. It also took me like a month or two to realise the song was called brIAnstorm and not brAInstorm. |

| Grinspoon – Scalped Lyrics | 2 years ago |

This specific song - Phil said he basically got the lyrics verbatim from a newspaper article about someone getting… well, scalped. As grinspoon as a whole - I really love them. I’ve only recently started getting into them, I’m not old enough to have known them before now really. It’s weird because younger folk, and folk on the internet don’t really know them, but older folk like my parents do. It feels weird to like their music for that reason, but they’re good to get anger out. If I’ve had a bad day I can just blast tang or butcher or freezer and get rid of the anger that way. And they’ll probably fade in my life time and that sucks. There’s been rumour that they’ll be releasing new music after the CH tour, so let’s hope theres some real bangers in there. |

Bruh what if the songs just about some dude stealing a go-kart or something because his girlfriend broke up with him, and now he’s being arrested for it. That or she left him at the crime scene and fled. |

| Weathers – Happy Pills Lyrics | 3 years ago |
|
I think happy pills either refers to antidepressants or ecstasy. He takes his pills and he’s happy all the time because either it’s an exaggeration of being the opposite of depressed, or because it’s the side effect of ecstasy. His girl ain’t worth the price because either she’s making him feel worse (Eg. She’s a gold digger, she’s abusive, ect), or because he’s wasted all his money and time in ecstasy. From here on out I’m solely focused on the antidepressant angle, rather than the ecstasy angle. “Hang out in my bedroom/lose your honour” - id assume, possibly because his depression, he has a low reputation, not helped by the act of cheating, so having sex with him would make one “lose [their] honour”. “Even if they find us, we’re apathetic” - a common thing with depression or even some antidepressants. He doesn’t really care about his reputation anymore, but he still has his apathy. “The voices in the right brain are kinda funny” - he’s trying to be positive, but it’s a struggle (“they tell me take a deep breath, it’s alway sunny”) He feels like his life is plain and boring due to his depression. “We take strange things to feel normal” - it’s considered “abnormal” to take drugs to feel somewhat normal. People consider the medication to be “strange things”. But taking them makes him feel somewhat normal. |

| Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning Lyrics | 3 years ago |
|
So first off, the phrase “crying lightning” means when someone (usually a women) suddenly starts crying to get attention or to avoid conflict or something of the sort. Another interpretation of the phrase, which fits with some other lyrics, is she’s crying wolf to the ice cream man. She’s saying lightning is coming, in the hopes she’ll get free ice cream because he can’t sell it if there’s a storm. Other all, I think the singer is singing about how he became friends with someone because he enjoyed the way she toyed with people, finding it amusing. This is until verse two, where he starts falling for her toying, but realised this (“next time I saw my reflection it was on its way to meet you thinking of reasons postpone”) He try’s to get away, starting to realise how bad she actually is for him, and how terrible it is to be on the receiving end of crying lightning. |
