In the wake of their destruction I have had to lean on this song before but never so much as now having kissed their backside and my sisters only to realize they were all playing me. The first response said it best I can't believe no comments on this song. If you even try in the smallest of ways to understand the struggle and resolution of that struggle from verse one to last verse it's all very simplistic not all that complicated. The protagonist wants meaning for his existence. He can dabble in the industries who claim to provide it but they show themselves to be unworthy of the trust. He is left as so many are the only thing I can truly rely on is to my own self be true. I take exception with common interpretation of one line I definitely hear it clear as day...

This is brilliant. The countdown demonstrating how we are all the same along defined certain criteria. I get the feel of an anti establishment vibe after that. Maybe isn't a feeling is obvious. Too many choices pick the ones that are used to define conformity just like the countdown and everything else... Well you have exactly what is being foisted on the masses from the top down in 2022. Wake up people. Non conformity needs to be encouraged and embraced!!! |
