Bush – Machinehead Lyrics 3 years ago
I used to be on adderall and this song is literally how i felt. I remember crying and laughing at myself because I was the machinehead. “Unconscious all the time” being on it turned me into a machine driving for success, and the real me, my personality, was gone, and i was pretty much walking around unconscious all the time because I was so disconnected from my inner self. “Better than the rest” I remember I used to feel somewhat superior to my coworkers and others around me- because of my machinehead, I could accomplish so much and make it look easy. But nothing good comes easy, “green to red”- you go from living a happy life to a life that’s turned you into a machine for society. To me this song is about being driven by an outside force (drugs/others opinions) to be the best you can be. “I walk from my machine” at some point anyone who’s turned into a machinehead will realize that they’ve lost their soul to the machine, and even though their machine makes them a better functioning member of society, they’ll walk from their machine once they understand living like that is unfulfilling and nothing but a deceitful happiness.
