| Abney Park – Change Case Lyrics

Not for nothin' but the title of this song is "The Change Cage", it's even in the lyrics...
...and I think he's content to live in a world free from walls and he's not going to make the first step to live differently, as referenced in "And I will hold the key until the day they say the cage will fall"; once "they" say the cage is done with then he'll let out all who were locked up for being different. I'm guessing he's a bit of a small-cog in the big-machine type. |

| The Automatic – Monster Lyrics

You try to blind yourself to the approach of what you perceive as a monster coming at you, the monster being whatever it is that overwhelms you. Is it the past coming to "haunt" you? Face down = the present, home town = the past; it looks so grey = the ambiguity of it all, the lack of anything being clearly defined, moreso, I'd imagine with all the toxins taken to hide from the "monster"...or is the monster really you? Then all the hiding from yourself will amount to nothing.
As a side note: this song was featured in the opening scene of Torchwood's "Countrycide" episode. |

| Gorillaz – Kids With Guns Lyrics
|
|
I find that the phrase "Kids with Guns" is referring to the youth being handed anything and everything without consequences or the responsibility of experience. "But it won't be long", at the rate the youth is being forced to grow up and interact with an ever-increasing lack of experience in being able to handle what comes. Eventually society will just be handing kids guns and expecting them to act appropriately. |

He loves her secretly, from afar. He's saying to himself all the things he'd love to tell her directly, if only he could get the chance. Ultimately he knows he never will, as the last line spins it into the definite: "...but the moment never comes." He'll always wait for her, even though the waiting is all he'll ever do. |

| Fiona Apple – O' Sailor Lyrics

She's the "other woman" in this song. She waited patiently for him, probably assuring her that he was leaving his wife, all the while dragging her deeper into love with him. Eventually he's had enough of his paramour (his adulterous lover) and let's her go by the boards (discards her, like something fallen overboard and carried away, thus the sailor reference.) |

2nd track on the album...clearly after having his soul drained by the demon in the 1st track Richard has retreated into the primal and child-like depths of his remaining sanity to hide...possibly while interred in an asylum of some sorts where he can look outside at the serene swan-filled canal? |

Looking back (while seeming to tell the tale to one who passed on there) at the time before the eruption of Vesuvius and the subsequent rain of ashes covered the denizens of Pompeii. |
