Coldplay – Spies Lyrics 23 years ago
I'm not gonna pretend to know what this is about because I don't. My first impulse was just societal conditioning, Big Brother 1984 stuff, but I'm sure there's more I'm not seeing. Why do the spies come out of the water??? Pfft...I don't know, but I don't think that means it has to be drugs. CesaroSummability: you can't assume that every strange, interesting image is the result of someone's LSD trip, although it is a possibility. I think you guys could be on the right track with the worries, but I wonder why your worries would watch you. Hmm... Anyway, I wouldn't fret over it too much. Just enjoy it; it's a wonderful song.

Dispatch – Blood Lyrics 23 years ago
I think there are a few lyrics missing here, at the end. "You went down to sixty..." etc. Still, yeah, it's basically about poverty and who's to blame.
Much Love,

Dispatch – Prince Of Spades Lyrics 23 years ago
I think this song, in comparison to some of Dispatch's others, is pretty straightforward as far as meanings go. But there's this one thing about it that keeps me itching: the deck of cards theme. Did anybody else catch this? It's more than just the "Prince of Spades": "Queen of love" (hearts) and King of diamonds. Is there an aspect to this song's meaning that we're all just not getting? Does anyone have an idea what this is about?

Dispatch – Open Up Lyrics 23 years ago
I don't think the members of Dispatch really had Jesus in mind when they wrote this, but given the rather obvious theme of persecution, it makes perfect sense that he could be included as part of the song's meaning. So could the victims of the Salem Witch Trials, the McCarthy Era, and anyone who has ever been falsely accused of anything. If your little brother stole cookies from the cookie jar and your mom accused you and punished you for it instead of him, this song is about you. =)

Dispatch – Two Coins Lyrics 23 years ago
Did anybody notice that he puts both his comforts (eyes and lips) and his loneliness into his pockets? But he does say pockets, so I'm wondering if these are separate pockets or the same. If they're the same, then when he's troubled and he pulls out his small change, he's pulling comfort or his memory of this person and his loneliness out at the same time, which wouldn't make too much sense. But if they're separate, he could just be pulling out the eyes and/or the lips. Great song, great band, but so confuddling!
