Okay, I'm not reading through all 3 pages of comments, so this might have been said already. But I remember watching something on MTV2 or Vh1 about the greatest rock bands or rock singers or something and I remember Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers saying when he asked Mr. Cornell what this song is about, Cornell said it wasn't really about anything.
So there's the meaning of the song as seen through the eyes of the singer/writer. However, personally I think any song can be about whatever you interpret it to be about. You know? That's what's cool about art. It can be a number of things to a number of people.
To me, this song is about being alone. Alone and old. Like nobody cares about him. That's what it means to me. |
