Hush, child, darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep, child. Darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep. The song is framed as a lullaby so this obviously goes with that theme Guileless son, I'll shape your belief, and you'll always know that your father's a thief. And you won't understand the cause of your grief, but you'll always follow the voices beneath. This is Morgause (or Morgan depending on the story) singing to her son Mordred about how she's essentially going to brain wash him into hating Arthur and following her plan to overthrow him. The part about Arthur being a thief could refer to him "stealing" her other sons as loyal knight of the round table or it could potentially be her blaming Arthur for how Arthur's father, Uther, "stole" Morgause's mother, Igraine. Loyalty (x7) (only to me) More brainwashing Guileless son, your spirit will hate her. The flower who married my brother the traitor. And you will expose his puppeteer behavior, for you are the proof of how he betrayed her loyalty. Morgause singing to Mordred about Guinevere and how he should hate her and about how Mordred will reveal Arthur's infidelity which is particularly shameful considering the Guinevere/Lancelot affair Loyalty (x7) (only to me) More Brainwashing Hush, child, darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep, child. Darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep. More lullaby content Guileless son, each day you grow older, each moment I'm watching my vengeance unfold. The child of my body, the flesh of my soul, will die in returning the birthright he stole. This is Morgause singing about the satisfaction she gets from watching Mordred grow up knowing her day of vengeance is getting closer when Mordred will kill Arthur Loyalty (x7) (only to me) More brainwashing Hush, child, darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep, child. Darkness will rise from the deep, and carry you down into sleep. More lullaby content |
