To me, this song is about escaping the monotony of daily life and breaking the status quo, represented by the object of bananas. I assume the general story of the song is an office worker (as shown in the music video) daydreams of a grand vacation to a tropical place with tropical people like banana man, but dreams tend to be a bit odd.\n\nPerhaps our protagonist\'s mind is a bit warped from the basic 9-5 schedule which is taking him nowhere in life. In the music video, when he proposes the whole "let\'s stop wasting our lives" to the office workers, he\'s shut down and seen as crazy, and either goes insane following his banana man persona or is deemed insane by others who follow the system blindly. \n\nDuring the bridge of the song is when our protagonist is thinking over and surveying his options for his life. He is eventually convinced by his new ideas and goes full banana mode. He seems to reconcile his ideas during the "9 o\'clock" part and now fully regrets ever living his life the way he did and dreads having to return to it to make ends meet, which is why he eventually goes fully insane (or is deemed as such). \n\nThis song is also about bananas. |

@[gogettergirl:41849] I have the CD booklet, and the lyrics say Noland, although that doesn\'t sound right to me either, I guess it\'s official. |
