| To my mind, the religious references to the divine and to the Christian idea of resurrection are obvious. Even the video (set in a desert in Israel, apparently) plays with those ideas. The notion of the barren land in need of replenishment is also biblical.\n\nRather than sexuality, then, I think the singer longs for a renewed spiritual (or simply emotional) connection with her lover, rather than the death of her relationship. | |
