| 30 Seconds to Mars – Was It a Dream? Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| It’s not about a relationship at all. At least not with another person. \n\nIt’s basically him talking to himself. Saying he was too closed off and afraid to let himself be open to evolving into who he wants to be. The best version of himself. And although it may be selfish to want more instead of remaining in a closed off safe space or complacency where everything is perfect and he’s happy (or so he lets himself believe) and less stressful and overwhelming, at least he’s not alone as in not wrong for wanting more for himself as most people do. \n\nHe has good intentions and they will not be waivered and he is focused on his goals. But he must rid himself of his old way of thinking and the habits of complacency that he set in place to distract himself. \n\n“Was it a dream?” And the lyrics in the chorus after pertain to him waking up from the state of complacency and realizing what he was doing to himself. Having looked at photographs and being able to tell the difference between what was fake and what is real in himself.\n\nThe second verse means he’s rid himself of what he was allowing himself to become and has realized the time he had wasted in doing so and knows that it is for the best \n\nAnd the last part of the final chorus “in love” sums up how indulged he was in living the fantasy he created for himself and the complacency he put himself in | |
