to me, this song is about someone who has experienced so much pain that wonder if wishes are even real or if its just a dream. "the roses on the lawn, don't know what side you're on" life doesn't know if you're on the side of good luck or bad luck. only you know. "in a daze, it will change" this line to me evokes a feel of after being in so much pain that you feel numb, things finally look up. "wishes on a wheel" could signify like a wheel of fortune and maybe no matter how many times the person spun the wheel, it didnt land on the wish they wanted. |

| to me, this song is CAN be seen in the context of a breakup, but personally i think its abt sadness in general.\n\nthe person "loses their smile" because they are sad and it affects them and everything around them. \n\nthe "sweet lies on their face" is them saying they\'re ok, that everything is fine. \n\n"tears out of place" because they cry so much.\n\n"sunshine in the rain, comes in rainbows and leaves again" they have periods where they get happy, but ultimately they go back to being sad.\n\n"when all the while, child/it\'s your own self giving in/who\'s to blame this time?" it\'s on the person for letting their sadness affect them so much.\n\n"dreams, baby, do come true" could be the person dreaming of being happy again and that their dream of being happy will come true. | |
