@[BrownWeen:41458] Saw the "live" version on YouTube. Sorry, no comparison. Kate\'s far better in comparison...and at least you can hear the lyrics when Kate sings it. Bold of them to try though. It aint an easy song to cover. |

So I guess we can all agree that it\'s based on Emily Bronte\'s Gothic romance book, "Wuthering Heights" - that\'s a no-brainer. But WHAT a song!! What makes this song great, is NOT only Kate Bush\'s original lyrics but that incredible singing voice range that she has. Ever heard anyone else try to cover "Wuthering Heights"?? Unless you have a similar octave range, you couldn\'t do it justice. Still have her original vinyl record that "Wuthering Heights" came out on - "The Kick Inside" and considering the whole album was written by a 19yr girl - it\'s impressive even now. Do you know that Kate Bush recorded "Wuthering Heights" in a single take?? That\'s talent. And considering that we\'re talking about "Wuthering Heights", 44 yrs after it first came out THAT shows what true genius & talent is all about. |

I love this song, always have from the first time that I heard it. For me, it\'s basically about someone living an unfulfilled life (in the shadows) and hoping that it\'ll get better. I\'ve seen all three video versions (Finnish, European & US) and it\'s the US version that, for me, relates to the song. You have a maid, starting work in a "big house" in the 1800s & becoming disenchanted with the life she has to lead, until she is pulled through the mirror by Lauri, out of her "shadows". I can believe also that he wrote this song while touring. I\'ve read, in the past, how some artists just loathe the tediousness of touring (not performing but touring from city to city) and some get so depressed, that they just can\'t wait till they\'ve exhausted ALL their tour dates and can go home. Whether you like the Finnish, European or US version - it\'s STILL a great song and it STILL resonates to people all these years later. |
