"Better off in Iowa, against your scrambled eggs, than crawling down Cahuenga on a broken pair of legs"\nDoes this refer to Cahuenga Boulevard or Cahuenga Pass? And why? Is Cahuenga Boulevard near Hollywood and/or Vine? Is Cahuenga Boulevard Skid Row? |

@[DaleC:41515] \r\nNot certain, but I think that would be in reference to a hat trick - was Bradman Tate\'s third wicket in three balls? (in magician parlance a hat trick refers to pulling a rabbit from a hat) |

The line "Live fast, die young, leave a good looking corpse" is a quote from the character Nick Romano from Willard Motley\'s 1947 novel "Knock on Any Door", a story of life on Skid Row in Chicago at the time.\nThe book was made into a movie in 1949. I haven\'t seen the movie, but no doubt that line was in it, and is likely where Waits got it from, it\'s a very cool line that I used to quote often, a lifetime ago. |
