Martin H4 has a good point in his comment. This song is about a predator. Downey had an interest in Canadian crime stories - so its certainly possible that its Olsen. There is a sex trade feel to this lyric. He opens with Im fabulously Rich ( Let me introduce myself - Im a man of wealth and taste). This predator is a devil armed with determination (and grace too) to get what he wants - a woman to meet with secret rules of engagement - conflict and force. And he can guarantee there will be no knock on the door because his ego believes he is intelligent and well planned enough to not get caught. Then its off to dumping the body. The prey are low status workers sex trade workers and cleaners. This is a chilling and brilliant song and really drives home the story. Gordie really could paint the picture of how crime happens - often by getting inside the criminal mind and point of view. |
