Faith No More – Ashes to Ashes Lyrics 3 years ago
@[GrainySnapshot:41205] such an in-depth analysis, I love it. I too have a biblical of sorts analysis however, my analysis is far simpler. \r\n\r\nThe lyrics are being spoken by god to god’s self. The opening line is the dead giveaway for me. I want them to know it’s me. Our civilization has all but abandoned god and the coming cataclysm which is being suggested in the lyrics "smiling with the mouth of the ocean" being a great flood flushing all life away while god smiles and “wave to you with the arms of the mountains" as god waves his creation goodbye. \r\n\r\nGive the same to you as I did the last civilization I whipped from the face of the earth. \r\n I will let you shout no more is a difficult to sing lyric as it requires a tempo adjustment up and its here where I think the final proof lays’. He could have said it in other ways such as I won’t let you shout anymore, but I think the true meaning would have been lost here. I will let you shout no more is god saying. I will let you have free will no longer. Implying it has gift that is now being taken back.\r\n\r\nmy other interpretation is that it is the soul now one with the ocean, mountains and universe, saying goodbye to the ego and it having sovereign control over consciousness. It is a funeral and a birth. The lyric, "I see you" compels me believe this may in fact be the meaning. In my own spiritual awakening journey, I won’t ever forget the moment I realized the ego was not me and it had convinced me it was and so I was convinced I was running my life. I had been fooled by the ego. I remember repeating these words in my head for weeks following. . . "I see you ... I see you"\r\n
