| Neck Deep – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| This song is about someone who has died, and this person is missing them. They died and now all they have is a picture to remember them by. \n\nThis song is really moving, I had 3 people die in the space of a month and these lyrics have been all I’ve listened to recently. There’s just something so truthful about them that resonates with me.\n\n“Don’t say everything’s meant to be, because you know it’s not what I believe” - this is so relatable because as much as people want to help and try to make me feel better by saying it was meant to be, I just can’t help but feel that’s not true. I know they mean well, but as much as the ‘universe’ may have ‘wanted it to happen’ it doesn’t make me feel any happier about them being gone. \n\n“A pictures all that I have, to remind me that you’re never coming back” - looking at the pictures, staring at their face and remembering what it felt like to even be near them and in their presence, reminiscing on how happy they made you and the joyousness you felt when you were with them, the picture just reminds you that you will never feel that again. That person is gone. They are now just ink on a piece of paper, or pixels on a screen, or a figment or your imagination. They exist now, only in your memory. Staring at pictures can make you feel a million times worse because they DO just remind you that that person is never. coming. back. ever. They are gone, once and for all. \n\n“They say you’re in a better place, but a better place is right here with me” - agreed. Would I rather they were up there, gone? Or standing by my side? I’d choose the latter, personally. \n\n“In the end I just wish you were here” - in the end, I do just wish they were here. | |
