I think the song is about human life, and how we can break down everything until we are nothing but chemical reactions, but there's more to life than the science of our lives. What would our world be if we were all walking strands of DNA. We have faces and meaning in our lives, that is what has made us, not the chemicals inside us. At first, everything was a miracle to us...fire, rain, but now we can see the science of things, simplifying them until it breaks things down to far, and we lose ourselves in the endless code that surrounds us.
