I do like this song but if any of my old boyfriends from way back called me up like that I'd be saying "sorry wrong number".
I think its someone who probably messed up over and over in life, a drunk a cheater who never appreciated what he had when he had it either with this Martha, his wife or whoever. Now he's old and nobody wants him anymore and he's suddenly had an epiphany that is was Martha who he loved the most after all and if only he could have one more chance with her. If Martha has any sense she will tell him where to go!

@[klute:40603] Seriously thought I think its just about the fact that some people are just gifted with so much insight, intuition and creativity that it makes a mockery of whatever you strive to do, it just comes so easy to them. The writer of this song seems to be some combination of dumbfounded, in awe and jealous of what other people are able to do without even trying to hard. |
