| Chad Kroeger – Hero Lyrics | 3 years ago |
| " I am so high, I can hear Heaven"\n - I think this line refers to the euphoric feeling the character gets after suddenly receiving great power.\n\n"Whoah, but Heaven, no Heaven, don\'t hear me"\n- Now that the person has this power they don\'t know what to do with it and there is no one around to to guide them.\n\n"And they say that a hero will save us. I\'m not gonna stand here and wait"\n-The character recognizes that no one else is able to stop the bad guys and that with this new power they must take action.\n\n"I\'ll\' hold onto the wings of the eagles. Watch as we all fly away"\n-The character begins taking on the evil, acting as they believe the good characters and legendary heroes he\'s learned about would and naively believes now he\'s going to be a super hero too and that everyone will love him.\n\n"Someone told me, love will all save us."\n-I think this refers possibly again to the fact that a lot of people seek out religion as a promise to be saved from the evil of the world. Up to this point the character has lived with the same beliefs that a lot of people hold about putting all their trust in prophesies of our respective faiths. Now that they are fighting against the evils they realize it\'s not all glory like in the stories.\n\n"But, how can that be? Look what love gave us. A world full of killing and blood spilling"\n-The character begins to see, now, how those same beliefs people cling to for comfort are used by evil as weapons to destroy and control the people of this world; corruption. They see the consequences of inaction of those with power against the evil that consumes the world and internally begins to question their faith, frustrated that those with supposedly such higher power have not stopped the carnage.\n\n"That world never came"\n-I think at this point the character loses traditional faith in the prophesies of old and the government officials/judicial system.\n\nAs the chorus is repeated I think the character begins to believe it\'s up to them and that no one else is going to do anything to stop the madness. Those legendary heroes of myth and fairy tale aren\'t coming to save them, nor are the elected officials and now tit is up to them to become the real hope for safety and peace in this world.\n\n"Now that the world isn\'t ending it\'s love that I\'m sending to you"\n-The character has saved the day and become a hero in the world. They continue to fight as need to keep others safe no matter how bad of a toll it takes on their personal life. They have sacrificed everything for the sake of others, but it puts a strain on their relationships with the one\'s they love. They know that no matter what internal pain they feel, the fight must go on for the sake of the masses.\n\n"It isn\'t the love of a hero and that\'s why I fear it won\'t do"\n-I think this line indicates that the character, even though successful, still does not feel they are the hero the world needs and will never be good enough. They feel unworthy of such responsibility. Their insecurity is showing.\n\nAs the chorus is sung for a third time the character, even though they are insecure, the hero continues their work, because they know that "with great power comes great responsibility"\n\n"And they\'re watching us as we all fly away"\nThe world, now aware of this new hero, is watching them work. Some love them and some hate them, but they continue on regardless.\n\nI feel that this song, analyzed on a deeper level, really fits well with the plot of the movie. | |
