| I think a lot of this song is obviously about challenging perception.\n\n I personally think the chorus is him questioning the audience. Shaun’s personal struggles with depression and anxiety make him challenge people anyway. \n\nBut if we look at disclaimer and disclaimer ii, it’s one of the very few songs that wasn’t repolished. I think he sees himself as lying to a lot of people. When disclaimer ii released, he was on top of the world; he had finally broke America, he had a gorgeous woman on his arm. To most people, he should’ve been on top of the world. \n\nBut if you watch him in the anywhere but home DVD, he always looks slightly sad or uncomfortable. Like he’s not sure he should be there or doesn’t deserve to be there. Which I think the chorus highlights, like he’s not sure if he deserves the fame his found. | |
