| I know the meaning behind the lyrics are about mattys love for his fan base, his worries about what he’d be if he lost it all. that empty feeling can resonate with lots of loss. the lyrics were recorded the day before he went into rehab which makes the song so much more emotional.\ni find myself listening to this song when I worry, when I’m content with my life but feel as though that feeling is undeserved. self-sabotage you could call it? it’s one of my favourite songs of all time. there’s not much to the lyrics but it’s the sensation that comes with resonating with such vague but raw emotion that makes this song a powerful listen. the questioning reflects that self doubt and concern. a timorous mind attempting to hold on to something when it’s inevitably apprehensive about the outcome. it’s that deep appreciation for something whilst understanding it’s an impermanent body of temporary admiration, in which one’s own actions can deeply impact. | |
