All the reviews and comments here are in praise of this song, quite easily one of the most irritating ever written or performed. This piece was penned by an unknown Canadian who was apparently trying to tap into the Jimmy Buffet school of anti-song songwriting. Utilizing the dual punch technique of a white boy wearing a Hawaiian shirt while vaguely singing in Jamaica/Kensington style. His appeal to the clueless has lasted decades. At least with Buffet it was funny! Bruce Cockburn\'s vocal manner could easily attract lions and one can only pray it be in time for dinner. |
