I think this song is about coming to terms with the fact that someone you\'re close to is going to die soon. The realisation that without the soul as a concept to fall back on as a religious person, this is the end for them. \nMaybe the arrows to be pulled out he mentions are those of the irrational contempt we have for the faith of others sometimes, especially so close to death, especially when we (I) have no faith ourselves. \n\nMaybe it\'s better to "leave your burdens at the door", and be there for them because you\'ll "never walk here again". |

I feel like this song is about coming to terms with your own mortality by accepting someone else\'s, maybe even before it comes to pass though after it\'s inevitably going to happen soon. Maybe that it\'s better to make peace together, than apart months after the fact. |

I think more specifically this is about being a good example to children and the generations after you. If you live purposefully, pass that on as the "precept" to live by. \n\nOr neglect them and allow the next generation to lead aimless, unguided and rudderless lives. \n\nYou don\'t need to do this by any ridiculously virtuous method; looking both ways before you cross the road when you don\'t necessarily need to when a kid might be watching, things like that contribute in some small way even. |
