Despite just being a remix, I believe this song differs heavily from the original in meaning. Where I believe Exhibition was originally about a change of beliefs and how the Christian God uses the unimportant tot erase the the self-important, this song feels far more sinister. \n\nThe lyrical content gives me imagery of a rebellion or some sort of underground splinter cell rising against some organization. \n\nThe chilling female vocals start with the line "The Phones are Tapped Again. They Know Just What I\'ve Said". This is obviously referring to the tactic of monitoring phonelines.\n\nThere is also the line "The Start of the Threat is I\'m Not Asleep." Being asleep in a lot of conspiratory circles refers to being rationally "asleep", or just taking any information from an organization of power at face value. Your rationality is not asleep. \n\nThe male vocalist repeats "They Come". This seems to be referring to the arrival of the forces that are here to capture our Protagonist(s), which is what the first half of the song seems to be referring to. This culminates in the climax of the song where I imagine the leads are being dragged away. The male vocals are saying that this was the only this could end, and the female vocals are saying that the edge of the knife chose to side against them, and the start of the Protagonist(s) threat is they are not asleep like the others. \n\nAs the enemy sleeps, they know due to their actions, our hero(s) have been erased. |

This song just seems to be an extended artistic version of the scripture that it references. The passage that it uses (1 Corinthians Chapter 1) was talking about how God uses the foolish things to confound the wise, and the disregarded things to "nullify" those that are important. I believe it is a song about changing beliefs. Sidenote: This song has my favorite intro of all time. |

I\'ve done a lot of reading and analyzing of the lyrics for this song. At first, I also believed that it might have been a not-so-subtle gay pride song by some more open minded Christian artists, but the more I read over the lyrics, and many reviewers seem to agree with the following statement, this song is made specifically vague on purpose so one can more easy insert they\'re own struggles. This song is about coming out as a Victor, despite all that has been hurled in your way. If you want to make it about gay pride, making it out of poverty, or getting out of an abusive relationship, I believe all are equally valid as a meaning for this song. |
