Radiohead – All I Need Lyrics 3 years ago
So I have to say, while exploring my ancestors and building my DNA family tree, I found I had this song on repeat. This is my favorite Radiohead album because of the drums and bass. Being a bass player and having ADHD, I find this album keeps me the most focused. But tonight, I was surrounded by all these pictures of family who haunt me like ghost. It feels like they’re speaking to me from beyond the grave with these lyrics that I’ve never really paid that much attention to before.
Just feels like this is a ballad cry from the Muse that haunts Thom. Like the lyrics are written from his Muse’s point of view. His greatest love song to finding his creative urges when he’s just going through the motions of the mundane of living while craving the need to be in the expressive fantasy realm. Running errands leaving his Muse in the hot car; the back of his mind. All the days he chooses to ignore because he’s just going through the motions of eating and sleeping and just being an animal. Having to suppress his desires literally just to survive.
The Muse is calling him, “You’re all I need. I’m in the middle of your picture.” The Muse is trying to get his attention. They want to be the focus. They feel like an insect I’m the ground just trying to come into the light; the surface of consciousness.
Honestly, it feels like the Muse is trying to drag you out of some sort of depression or creativity crash. It often happens to artist after experiencing extreme high creativity to crash and forget what drives them to aspirations in the first place. “Only stuck to you,” like a guardian angel as unique as your DNA. “Lying in the reeds,” of our subconscious. “It’s all wrong, it’s all right, it’s all right, it’s all right.” The Muse is always three steps forward, one step back. Such as depression goes when you’re trying to dig yourself out of the darkness underground…
This song is the DNA of Radiohead, always pushing them and driving them forward through time and space fueling the art and music they came here to give us. A family tree of Muses from Radiohead passed down to us. Inspiration begets inspiration.
That rhythm and bass tho…

Motopony – Euphoria Lyrics 3 years ago
The line, “But to protect, will always break the motion of my plans,” is clearly the addicts curse. To protect one’s self is always first. To feel good. Life is fucking hard. Everyone just wants to feel good. To be sober is to accept suffering. To suffer is to feel pain. Everyone just wants to feel good.

LCD Soundsystem – Oh Baby Lyrics 4 years ago
Oh baby\nCan we first appreciate the metronome opener. I think sound has as much meaning to a song as lyrics do. The beat chants and one and two, and one and two, and one and two, even tho the signature is 4/4. There is an atmospheric background. And there are intro notes placed here and there as well as sound wave intervals that lead into the drum beat. The first lyrics suggest someone has fallen asleep in the singers arms and they are having a bad dream. The second line, “oh sugar,” is a metaphor for cocaine or speed. Baby is a drug. And baby could be a bad thing or more importantly she could be the muse for all his inspiration. If we write high, can we credit ourselves or the drugs? But the music runs through our blood like a fascination with a lover. And that obsession drives our loved ones away. And when one recognizes the toll drugs takes on oneself and others, all they want to do is wake up. So then we try rehab. We try to be sober. But she calls to us. Always that calling is in the back of an addicts mind. “Oh sugar, give in to me.” And his true love waits to se if he can beat his addiction demon as he battles detox. Bit it’s too late. His love is gone. And his love life stumbles on. But there’s always a side door. If he plays this game long enough and decides he cannot win, there is a way out. There’s always a side door. He’s threatening suicide. This song is the cry of an addict. An addict in love. And one and two. And me and you. Because of you. Because of me. I am clean. I’m on my knees. Is the bad dream the addiction or the reality of the cycle of addiction. It’s the rhythm. It’s the prayer. It’s the plea that hits with song.
