| I feel like this song is about this guy admiring this girl or thinking shes really special, maybe he fantazises about her, he really knows her or he admires her from afar but i feel like he knows something about this girl really well, i feel like its about him sleeping with her for the first time or having a one night stand with her, Either what he seems to know is linked to deja vu and she is indeed a stranger or he knows this girl and admires her and certain things about her\n\nI wake up, my shoulders cold\nI\'ve got to leave here, before I go\nI pull my shirt on, walk out the door\nDrag my feet along the floor\nI pull my shirt on, walk out the door\nDrag my feet along the floor\n\nOk so I feel like when he says he wakes up his shoulders cold he is talking about a distance memory or the reminder of the last day(s) \n\nWhen they say they have go to leave here before they go and they pull their shirt on walk out the door they are saying they are either stuck in a moment of time they have felt before or are in a state with this magical person where they just need to get out and chill, recollect their thoughts\n\nWhen he repeats pulling his shirt on and walking out the door, dragging his feet along the floor I feel like his mind is spinning and he is remembering just thinking. \'You know what I just have to get out of here not in a rush but it\'s just what I HAVE to do in a moment like this\'. Dragging his feet can be seen as trying to escape without being caught, or just wanting to get out not thinking about what just happened really or what is ABOUT to happen.\n\nThen I see you, you\'re walking \'cross the campus\nCruel professor studying romances\n\nWhen they say they see them walking across the campus I feel like either they know this person so well and they always see them walking by someplace or even a campus and this is something they are used to. Or they are talking about plainly seeing someone they don\'t know so well walking but the campus is either a campus or somewhere familiar to them that they really recognise.\n\nHow am I supposed to pretend\nI never want to see you again\nHow am I supposed to pretend\nI never want to see you again\n\nWhen they say this, I feel like they are just acknowledging that this person intrigued them and gave them something special like how everybody has to offer something unique, this one has stuck with them. \n\nWalked to class, in front of ya\nSpilled kefir on your keffiyeh\nYou look inside and turn to the door\nDrag your feet along the floor\n\nThen I see you, you\'re walking \'cross the campus\nCruel professor studying romances\n\nWhen he says walked to class infront of you I feel like he has had time to think about that magical moment and he has recovered past his awkwardness or confused stage wheras when he saw her or was trying to escape said moment he was still kind of dazed or awkward. Now, he has recovered and is back to reminded of knowing this person as a friend/aqquaintance and they have gone back in time to their relationship before this moment.\n\n\nWhen he says spilled kefir on your keffiyah, maybe he is referencing to this person being like different in race/ethnicity/culture or style I feel like these two are clearly not the same culture wise or status wise, there is some kind of boundary socially. I feel like also maybe the person he is talking about has just spilled something or been clumsy which usually results in people looking and so, it gives him a moment to look.\n\nWhen vampire weekend says they look to the door and drag their feet, I feel like this person is annoyed by this moment but is also nervous wondering why he is looking at them and feels like he is looking at them because of that magical moment or a clearly tension-causing reason.\n\nWhen he says he sees them, he is again reminded of all the past events or it is the next day and something similar happens as it did the following where he sees them with a little bit of awkwardness.\n\nWhen it says cruel proffesor studying romances, I feel like he is making a joke on her personality, this is why I feel he knows her well because of this I also feel like he is refferencing to something about her that you just wouldn\'t expect or makes him laugh.\n\nHow am I supposed to pretend\nI never want to see you again\nHow am I supposed to pretend\nI never want to see you again\n\nIn the afternoon, you\'re out on the stone and grass\nAnd I\'m sleeping on the balcony after class\n\nNow his mind is spinning and he is just thinking about everything and really feeling like it is just impossible that I can\'t find out more about this person or want to know more. It only started as a minor curiosity and it is still a small curiosity but he still wants to learn more about them maybe continue this new relationship.\n\nWhen he says they are out in the stone and grass and he is sleeping on the balcony after class, he is talking about their different hobbies/lifestyles and how they feel about this situation and their approach to things.. They both seem to be quite laidback judging by this. Her way of forgetting or calming her thoughts is by being around distractions or a new environment. His way of forgetting seems to be escaping/running way or just having a long time to take a break and the approach works for him.\n\nIn the afternoon, you\'re out on the stone and grass\nAnd I\'m sleeping on the balcony after class\nIn the afternoon, you\'re out on the stone and grass\nAnd I\'m sleeping on the balcony after class\n\nLastly, it repeats and I feel like at this point he is just laughing and remembering everything that has happened and particularly thinking about their minor escapes and reminiscing on what is really next for them to come.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<3 I love this song, love to define it it\'s very AWSOME\nIt is about a guy and a girl forming a new weirdly beautiful relationship in a word full of calmness and casual adventure. | |
