| While I don\'t disagree with the interpretations that say this song is about a kid just wanting to be a normal kid, I also don\'t think it\'s a perfect match. \n\nTo me, it\'s about someone wanting to dodge the pressure to be perfect. "I don\'t wanna be your hero / I just wanna fight like everyone else" to me reads as "Don\'t put me on a pedestal. Accept me for who and what I am, limitations and all." \n\nPossibly also relates to the pressures of social media to put up a facade of perfection - "Your masquerade / I don\'t wanna be a part of your parade" feels like someone who wants to live life as themselves without pretending to have constant adventures and glamour shots. | |
