I have mostly “maybes,” but some of them might be correct, or at least thought-provoking! I’ll dive in: (1) Is the singer literally Christian’s older brother? Someone else very close; He knows a lot about her. (2) Its clearly a big-time transition for a group that she’s part of (“only one to say ok”) Maybe HS graduation? (3) obviously there’s a religious thread—“The boys don’t want to play with you no more” Has she been promiscuous? Perhaps she’s saying OK to a religious life? (e.g., convent); maybe the name Christian is literal. “Motoring?” No clue. There’s an intense scene in Boogie Nights (great film!) with Sister Christian playing in the background that just blew me away (no pun intended) — I highly recommend watching that scene on You Tube. I wasn’t at all interested in this song until I saw that movie; now its a favorite. Funny though, because the song’s lyrics are irrelevant! |
