Wow, so I have a completely different interpretation, based on the video and my own personal experiences.\n\nFirst: the literal action in the video. She and he are clearly sharing a room, and he unexpectedly moves out. She follows him, shouts at him, and he is completely oblivious. Eventually he just walks out into the sea, unambiguously a suicide. At every stage she is trying to stop him or at least get his attention but he is far too gone to hear.\n\nTo me this is what happens when your partner slips into mental illness and, despite the bond you have shared, there is absolutely nothing you can do to reach or save them. Eventually they are irretrievably lost. The sense of powerlessness and loss is all-consuming. And all the time, you wonder: did I cause this? Did I trigger this? Was I the needle that broke their back? |
