This is like the parable of Lazarus, the rich man and the poor man. the rich man is buried in an avalanche, the poor man is saved. not to be confusing, the last stanza mentions rags and i think thats speaking to false humility, which is actually what the rich man might demonstrate |

@[pseudonym123:39738] I think the reference to the Avalanche is speaking about how man can be buried in this world by pursuits, regrets, commitments, failure, getting exiled by society, etc. The second stanza seems to touch on this a bit as well, suggesting that the devil too is buried, all the way at the center of the earth. And that it is by digging for gold (engaging in worldly pursuits, driven by greed, power, etc that we hurt God the most). And all of this effort is in vain for the personification of these pursuits are a "cripple" that doesn\'t need your attention. Ex: the world will keep spinning if you don\'t show up to your bs job. \r\n\r\nI made this connection because of a talk on Youtube given by a channel called Father Spyridon. The video is titled A message from Hell and I highly recommend watching. His view is that people go to hell when they die buried in this world\'s pleasures (they die rich and realize they missed the point of living but cannot turn their hearts towards something else because they never tried to give, always to win and get more money) |

@[albert1076:39737] Youtube link is broken... Search A WARNING FROM HELL posted by the Father Spyridon YouTube channel. its about how the people that end up in hell are simply those that die BURIED in this world, they die rich of this world and not of an understanding of God\'s rule. |

@[albert1076:39736] \r\n\r\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oNvP2rX1NI&t=1s\r\n\r\nA good discussion of how in the end it is a person\'s attachments that usually keep them from eternal salvation, not their status in the world (quantity and severity of mistakes/deeds). I think God allows for some people to be completely tossed out from a society, even for the most minor infraction to ingrain the importance of obeying authority and living in truth, so that in the end they can have the desire to strive for his kingdom). Louis Wain in the amazon original shows how one decision, to marry a woman of lower class, led to his and his family\'s status and life dying. just one mistake, but in the end maybe he did not feel any bitterness and anger and was grateful to face eternal life with this lesson and the love for life. |

pseudonym123 explains all of it so well, but I think the first two stanzas have a bit more depth than other comments have covered. \n\nWell I stepped into an avalanche\n(wrong life choice that led to chronic sin)\nIt covered up my soul\n(disconnected from God and a righteous path in life)\nWhen I am not this hunchback that you see\n(no righteous path = social erudite)\nI sleep beneath the golden hill\n(b/c he chooses humble, honest life as a pariah, God still gives him the grace of peace and shares love)\nYou who wish to conquer pain\n(if you want to walk free of the past and escape this world in eternal paradise)\nYou must learn, learn to serve me well\n(learn to worship god if you are to be given second chance to walk a path of righteousness eternally)\n\nYou strike my side by accident\nAs you go down for your gold\n(God is hurt when you search for that of this world (digging for gold represents greed, a deadly sin)\nThe cripple here that you clothe and feed\n(personification of worldly desire and all its false needs)\nIs neither starved nor cold\n(the world will keep on spinning even if you stop feeding your worldly desires/pursuits)\nHe does not ask for your company\nNot at the centre, the centre of the world\n(your ambitions are a manifestation of the devil, the angel that chose to be alone and does not share love like god) |
