@[DanFan1625:39601] Wow this seems spot on! I had to look up the Poor Palatines on wiki and this makes a lot of sense, hence the Royal reference. The Dan typically tell multiple stories in their songs, so this theory matched with the PR immigration theory definitely works! Nice find there |

Given the Asian theme, I interpret “up on the hill” as the Himalayas in Tibet. Same for “dude ranch above the sea” being a Tibetan temple. As a reference to eastern philosophy, I take “they’ve got time to burn, there’s no return” as referring to the reincarnation cycles found in the Buddhist concept of samsara. “Let’s do it right” meaning getting into the proper state of meditative mind so they can attempt to reach higher consciousness together. |
