the song is more likely about a secret kept between a pair of siblings of extreme importance. however, the secret is in danger of spilling and one of them decide to bear the responsibility in order to keep the other safe. the penalty of such a crime could even be death and the mother not willing to keep her child's proud head from falling could be literal. two of them decide to take the secret to the grave with only one of them bearing full responsibility while the other feign ignorance. quite likely it's about incestuous relationship. |
