| @[madroxide413:39461] is because it's not true? I get you trying to sound smart but you're not. Jim Morrison is a god, yes, and he has works that sound and feel EXACTLY like this. But these lyrics are written by Corey Taylor. It's probably an ode to Jim Morrison for sure though. | |

To anybody who actually calls on of thoughts", you're an idiot. You have zero vision and no comprehension of ANY deep meaning or symbolism and you seriously need to stop listening to music and go play with rocks you monkey. This is the farthest thing from random and it's disgusting that this planet contains people that are THAT goddamn dense. Jesus Christ. What are they teaching in our schools?! I would post the meanings of every line of this song, but after seeing how hopelessly ignorant most people in the comments are, I'm not doing that. To refer to Plato, some people are meant for the cave. And these are those people. But if anybody wants to know or discuss the lyrics and the meanings, then contact me in outside of the comments, I will gladly chat and discuss with you. Because these are some unbelievable and life altering words. Lessons to go by and truths to NEVER forget. |

| @[No_One_Really:39460] you're an idiot. The fact that you actually even tells everyone that if you're NOT a troll, it have the IQ of a fucking grape. Dumbass. | |

@[Bloodmoth:39459] not sure what you doing vocals in a band has to do with anything except you bragging. If you wrote the lyrics okay, but the fact that you sing, is irrelevant to your comment. Adjusts God insight though. That is a neat idea, i like it. |

@[kbailey1995:39456] there's is parts of this that you are spot on. But the deeper meanings you missed, which is okay. It's a good thing. Means you haven't felt that kind of pain. But self affliction isn't referring to to cutting. Yes it COULD. But not his intent. Self affliction is referring to a disease. A poison in himself. Most likely addiction, and that's why he precedes it with not wanting to feel. Because with the fading of his substance abuse, the emotions will be unavoidable and in the surface. Raw and unrelenting. I agree that the creator comment most likely refers to his god or his parents, However I believe you were incorrect in assuming the second verse was unrelated. You are too quick to take the Google information presented. Masochism is not a sexual term. It CAN be. But it refers to driving pleasure and in some cases, self worth from degradation and humiliation. From taking pleasure from pain, submitting. If an individual enjoys being insulted and berated by people, or being physically hurt by others, they're a masochist. You're thinking of a sexual masochist. There's a difference. But ultimately that's not what I believe he's referring to. I believe it calls back to he's creators. That their masochistic, and he feeds them by being abusive or sadistic, and hates himself for it. That he protects his pain and anger onto them, but is fully aware of IT. OR he could be referring to creator as the one(s) who made him this way. The culprit to why he is so broken. That he is now a broken empty man and someone made him that way, and that they are his creator. Lastly, the line shit being a zombie you have wrong. It's not about hiding who he is. Not at all is about feeling like a shell. It's not so much about being someone else. It's about not being anyone. He feels like he's just "going through the motions". Like a zombie. No purpose, they just move but have no agenda or will. Then "shell". Does not refer to dying. It refers to the zombie line. He's empty my friend. He is a hollow shell of who he once was. The diaries part is probably figurative. But even if it wasn't, he's just saying that the only evidence of the person he used to be lies in memories; MAYBE physical diaries. He did not kill himself. The music video says it ALL. He was dying inside. And he tried to hard to move on. To keep going, and he'll try until he's got nothing left, but if he can manage to keep going, he'll NEVER fuckn let himself forget. The biggest part of this song is that last line. The last WORD. My friend, it is not "the crap they put up with". He's referring to his OWN sins now. With that last line he's confessing that through it all, he wasn't innocent. That whether he was victimized or not, he was deceitful. He was not without guilt. He did things too. And he most likely believes that his transgressions were the cause of, or at least continued the cycle of abuse. But he never died. Inside he did, his old self degraded away. But in the end, if you watch the video, he decides to take what he experienced, and learned, and start again. This song has happened to every person. And will at least once before they die. It's about shedding your old self, accepting and forgiving yourself, and moving on to become better. Growth is not always an easy process. And t Corey Taylor is one intelligent guy. I know why he wrote this. You want to practice understanding meaning, listen to Omega in the and album, and get back to me cuz I can explain most of my all of that one. It's intense and beautiful shit. |
