Nine Inch Nails – Even Deeper Lyrics 4 years ago
Icy despair. Some songs in this album are just scary, Even Deeper the most disturbing imo. I get chills even reading the lyrics.

So how damaged has he become, is purposefully vague. I for one think that "I'm a diiferent me with a perfect you, we fit perfectly" is about a relationship with himself (like in the song The Fragile!)

Trent clearly was in therapy and they told him to be his own savior and start caring for his inner child. He wrote a song about that inner child, i.e. the fragile, "feminine" side of himself. No woman here.

Nine Inch Nails – Reptile Lyrics 4 years ago
"She spread herself wide open to let the insects in" - She's dead, eaten by maggots. No living person would ever let the insects in.

"She leaves a trail of honey to show me where she's been" - With literal honey, this line sounds like Clive Barker's description of Candyman, a dead man who consists partly from honeycombs where insects live. Adding a "reptile", the woman in the song crawled like a snake and left the trail of some bodily fluid - being dead, her body was dragged on the ground, and she still is on the ground as long as the song is called "Reptile", fixating her on the spot.

"She has the blood of reptile just underneath her skin" - This line inevitably makes me think of severe ichthyosis but probably Trent just meant cold blood. Then again, cold blood is in dead bodies.

Overall, the song from the very first sentence paints a picture of corpse decomposition. The man "needs to contaminate" knowingly, he is aware that her body is in terrible condition. "I now know the depths I reach are limitless" - I don't think that all this fuss is about visiting an average whore.
