My favorite part about this song is how it has become a shrine for the amazing talent that is Derrick. Underrated as hell and one of the best drummers in the 90s punk revival. RIP. |

Loved the bass on this song. If it really is about suicide it would prove that JEW lyrics have always been on the emotional side. Great highlight of the self-titled. |

| Blink-182 – Boxing Day Lyrics

December 26th has got to be the worst day to have a breakup. I've read the comments above and while I do believe this correlates with the 04' Tsunami and 05' hiatus, this song clearly paints a picture about a couples' split on the day after Christmas.
Tom's voice shows regret and sorrow, something he felt during blink's departure. Mark's lyrics shadow resentment, which he's had for Tom many points in life.
Even tho this song seems to be chronicling blink from their time off til 2008, the themes and lyrics can fit easily to a conflicting relationship of two people. Which is why I like to believe the song was called Boxing Day.
Simply cuz it's unexpected. |

Love Buddha and I love 21 Days! The bass is so much different from other blink tunes at the time and the lyrics perfectly match with the tone of the song. It's simply about a girl you shouldn't have caught feeling for. Been there. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Christmas Card Lyrics

The song is purely about a couple in the shit of a relationship during the Christmas season. They still are madly in love just completely over the 'rules' and 'lies' each other used constantly. Jim says they should 'start again Tuesday morning' which as the above user stated is in correlation to the Christmas Season, the 25th day. Very similar to another song on Clarity, '12.23.95'
I think the 'Card' was one of the last mementos of the time together. Thus it became Jim's title as well as our allegory.
The final line 'Conscience clean, alone. I hope you figure out, what it is you want.' is sort of a reflection on the time spent together. I feel it is also left open ended to prove they may cross paths with each other in the future, as they still have feelings, 'are you looking at or past me?' and 'caption reads "how does he do it?"'.
They realized what was wrong with the pair being together, hindsight 20/20. Now alone, all he (Jim) wishes is the best for her and her happiness.
Just my interpretation of my favorite Jimmy Eat World song. |

Mark's best bassline off Cheshire Cat. Such a great song about a relationship going the wrong way imo. |
